Our Quality
There are a lot of companies making furniture, but few can match the quality
of BarrGallery, Inc. We use only the best quality teak and we always
KILN DRY our teak wood prior to the construction of our furniture. If
it isn’t kiln dried... it won’t last.
Our finishing is top notch with several finishing options available. The
most popular being a natural finish of fine sanded wood and a teak oil with
a drop of stain to bring out the wood grain.
Select Timber
The teak wood that we use to manufacture our furniture products is 100% ecologically
grown and harvested by Perum Perhutani, which is an the Indonesian state owned
timber resource and management company.
All of our teak is acquired through Perum Perhutani and it’s agents. We select
only the first quality teak wood to manufacture our furniture and we never
sacrifice our quality by using inferior quality timber. All of our teak wood
is kiln dried prior to construction of our furniture. As is the case with all
high quality furniture, BarrGallery, Inc. Products are manufactured with interlocking
mortise and tenon joints and our hardware is made from solid brass.
Teak is one of the hardest woods in the world. It is extremely dense
and it also has a very high oil content which makes it very resistant to damage
including cracking, splitting or rotting. Of course, this is only true
if it has been properly kiln dried. Teak wood that has not been kiln
dried will split and crack when taken from the moist and humid climate of Indonesia
to a dry climate as is the case in many other regions of the world. For
this reason, we ALWAYS kiln dry our teak wood to just the right moisture content
to insure stability and long lasting durability in the wood in any climate.
Teak was once used as a ship building material because of it’s high resistance
to the elements and so, it is a natural choice for theconstruction of outdoor
and garden furniture because of it’s durability in harsh elements. After
a period of time and given that you do not cover up or store your teak furniture
indoors, it will turn a soft grey color as it becomes part of your home or garden.
